Join guest instructor Rosalie Gale of Ugly Baby for a fun\, hands-on tufting class at The Pour Haus and create your own custom wall hanging using a tufting gun. This beginner-friendly workshop focuses on helping students feel confident using the tufting gun while bringing their design ideas to life. \n\n\n\nEach student will work on a frame with approximately 26″ × 26″ of usable space—large enough for bold artwork\, but flexible enough that you can tuft a smaller design if you prefer. Rosalie provides everything: the frame\, fabric\, tufting gun\, acrylic yarn\, and guidance throughout the class. All you need to bring is your design concept. DESCRIPTION:Create a beautiful set of two epoxy resin stemless wine glasses in this beginner-friendly workshop at The Pour Haus\, taught by Jen Albright of Rusted Element Design. Students will use cup turners to apply epoxy resin in smooth\, layered designs. Each 4-cup turner will be shared by two students\, with one person working on each side. \n\n\n\nJen will guide everyone through epoxy mixing\, pigment blending\, and application techniques using both opaque mica pigments and translucent liquid tints. From Duchamp’s Fountain to Dore’s The Burial of Sarah\, all artwork is a reflection of how the artist sees the world around them. It is inspired heavily by the influences of everyday life. The stimuli of life seeps in through our pores and bleeds on to stage\, screen\, and canvas. But what do we do as artists when the world around us isn’t as beautiful as it could- or even should- be. \n\n\n\nArtists wield the only weapon that can combat the brutal realities of everyday life; the imagination. “Revolutionary Imagination” is a concept centered around hope for a better future. When the powers that be are at their most oppressive\, it is easy to feel hopeless. \n\n\n\nIt is easy to see a world plagued by racism\, genocide\, homophobia and xenophobia as “too far gone.” However\, that is counterproductive. The fact is\, those that came before us made it this far because they saw a future that could be in spite of what was. They saw a world redeemed from the horrors that divide us. They carried with them a revolutionary imagination that brought into being a better tomorrow. So the question now is\, what is your favorite tomorrow? What is the world that you envision? What are the possibilities that you may dare to dream of? We cannot fight for a tomorrow we cannot imagine. It is a revolutionary act in and of itself to simply believe tomorrow can be better.
